Ice dispenser motor burnt out, water got inside.
Purchased new motor from Partselect.com. When it arrived it came with a new rubber washer that fitted on top of new motor that was not on old motor, that how water got into old motor. However, the instruction sheet did not give info on how to access the proper way to the motor that is the door. Not wanting to damage the freezer door assy. called in a tech who made it look easy, but even he had a little problem locating access panel that was directly under the motor in the freezer side of the door. After that it was a piece of cake.

Icecube dispencer stopped working because of lack of water seal on motor shaft.
I removed the ice bucket and motor cover on the inside of the left door. Then I removed the 4 screws that hold the motor in place and unplugged the electrical connector. The old motor shaft was all rusted and housing was cracked letting water inside the motor. That's why it failed. The new motor I ordered from Part select came with a rubber seal that I slipped on to the motor shaft. That will stop any water from entering the new dispencer motor. I reinstalled motor and the dispencer works great. Total time for removal and replace was 20 min. A novice can do it. Bill WI.

Ice make auger stopped working
I carefully matched the model number to replacement part cross-reference and ordered the Part.
You-tube instructions were accurate except for the plug wire that prevented removal of the auger motor. It took significant maneuvering to drop the old motor. The new motor fit in better but the male plug configuration did not match the female plug from the refrigerator.

A lot of wasted effort and time as well as expense! What good is matching replacement parts when the replacement is not correct?

POS fridge is constantly under repair.
Understood the problem by removing the old dispenser first. That made me realize I also needed the shaft. Went online and matched up all the #’s and the repair went smoothly.

Motor stopped working
I thought this was going to be much more difficult than it was. Take the bottom access door off (using a small socket - same size for all screws). Disconnect the plug to the motor. Unscrew the 4 screws holding the motor. Take the motor out. Unscrew the shaft screws on top (only 2) so you can manipulate it if need be up and down or spin it. Insert new motor and make sure shaft is seated correctly into the motor head. Screw motor back in. Screw shaft back in. Plug up motor. Screw bottom door back on. You are done. EASY!! Took me about 10-15 minutes to do. Much easier than most things.

The motor that turns the auger and crushes the ice cubes is broken. Everything else within the ice cube maker seems to be working. I just can not activate the motor to crush or dispence the ice cubes. Is this the correct part for replacement? Looking at that portion of the ice maker, it appears there are just two or three hex nuts to remove and then lift out the assembly. Am i correct? The new motor would be replace there and then reassemble? We can dispense water but not ice cubes. Thank you!

Hello Leland, Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, this would be the correct part number for the motor to activate the auger and blades. We have found the following installation instructions: remove access panel and disconnect the wire. Remove the 4 screws that hold the motor in place. Place rubber washer (that is supplied with new motor) onto shaft. Replace new motor and connect wire then install access panel. Hope this helps!

Is there any way to test the motor? Is it possible for the motor to have simply frozen and just needs to thaw out and be reinstalled?
PartSelect logo
Hi Frank, Thank you for the question.I suggest removing the motor to tray and unthaw it first. Here are a few things to check that might cause the motor to freeze up.Check for an air leak or gap in the door gasket. You can also check the dispenser door for an air leak, and the ice dispenser flapper door for proper closure and seal. Make sure the freezer compartment isn't too cold, the average temperature should be 0 to 5 degrees. Hope this helps!

While trying to dispense ice cubes, switching over to crushed ice, ice stopped dispensing and will not dispense either crushed or cube. Water dispenser still works, as well as making ice. Emptied the ice bin to check auger (was not stuck), but still no dispensing. Immediately after the stoppage occured could smell electrical/electronic burn/melt odor. Everything else within the ice cube maker seems to be working (making ice cubes, dispensing water). Did an inspection of the control panels circuit board, nothing visually burnt/melted. Is the motor the correct part for replacement? Or should i be looking at sensors, switches, etc. Thank you!

Freezer stopped working and the ice maker. Motor was running and making loud noise. Finally stopped making noises. Checked motor and it was hot while still plugged in. Do I need to replace the motor only.

Motor does not turn to deliver ice through the door
For model number Ksrv22fvms02
PartSelect logo
Hi Thomas, thank you for your question. It is likely then that you will have to replace your motor. However you may want to take a look at your auger shaft and make sure it has not stripped. You could also take a look at the micro switch on your dispenser area as well. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Motor (w10215646) is out, i found it on your site. The main question i have is the ice maker stops making ice for a few weeks and i put bag ice in the bucket. (that’s what broke the motor. Ice too hard). Then after a time it starts making ice again. Have you run across this problem with one stoping then after a few days start back to making ice again?

For model number KRFC604FSS02

Hello John, thank you for contacting us. Based on the description that you have provided, we would recommend checking the auger motor, part number PS11723175, to fix the issue. It turns the auger that pushes the ice cubes through the dispenser chute. We hope this solves your problem!

My in door ice maker stopped working when I push the out side lever to dispense ice all that happens is a loud groan as long as the lever is pushed. Is this an indication that the motor is bad and a new motor needs to be installed or is it another problem. Please advise
For model number GC3SHAXVA00
PartSelect logo
Hello Barry, thank you for your question. There could be a few things causing your dispenser to not dispense ice. It could be that your ice is frozen into chunks that the auger cant break apart or push out. In this case you would have to defrost the icemaker. If the auger is not turning at all, you should verify the motor is operating. Part number PS733947. You can check it for continuity with a multi-meter. Remove power from the appliance before performing this test. If the motor has continuity then you should inspect the actuator, part number PS11749101 and switch, part number PS11738948. Remove the control panel cover and verify that the actuator contacts the dispenser switch properly and if not, check the actuator housing bracket, switch mounting bracket and the actuator pivot. Replace any defective parts. If the actuator is contacting the switch, you will need to check the switch. Set your multimeter to the lowest ohms of resistance and test your switch. If it does not read any continuity, then your switch is indeed faulty. If all of these parts check out we recommend replacing the control board. Part number PS11749617. We hope this helps.
