Water would not dispense.
Unplug the refrigerator. Snap off the ring surrounding the dispenser from the bottom. There are two slots on the bottom. This is the toughest part of the repair because my refigerator is older and the part stuck. Then unscrew the two hex screws and unsnap the parts, then reassemble with the new parts. Snap the ring back on and you're all set. Pretty easy.

water dispenser not working
Remove side handle from the freezer door ...pop out the black panel from the ice/water dispenser... you need to bend it a little bit to remove... un snap the electrical connections ...the plastic connectors, not from the fridge or the back of the panel, there are plastic connectors (white) in the middle between the fridge & the plastic outside panel.I needed a thin knife to lift the connector snaps to pull the pieces apart. It's not a bad idea to note how they match up so you can put it back properly. unscrew the white panel. There are two screws remove panel.I had to cut the micro switch out of the old style panel. the new panel is much more precise. By the way, if you are replacing the micro switch, it's a good thing to know, there are two. One is for the ice maker, the other is for the water dispenser. You might as well replace both at the same time even if one is working it will save you having to do this again anytime soon.Snap the micro chip into place & thread the wires back through the control panel screw the panel back into the door snap the wires togeather. now test the water dispenser just to be sure. Now arm wrestle the panel back in to the tracks. This is the hardest part. Why it doesn't just slide in is beyond me. Must have been designed by a guy!!! It really is easy & it saved me $300.

Ice dispenser would not dispense ice through the door
First I unplugged the frig, and turned offed the water and ice dispenser using the on/off panel switch. I removed the panel by inserting a small flat blade screwdriver at the bottom of the panel where the plastic studs locked the panel in place. By inserting a little upward pressure, the panel popped right ouff. The Micro Switch was very easy to remove and replace. Just make sure that the plunger on the ice dispenser makes solid contact with the switch when depressed.

Ice dispenser was not dispensing ice.
Remove the cover plate from the bottom. Use care and patience when performing this step. It takes longer to remove the cover plate than replacing all of the parts involved. Slide off each switch, unplug electrical connectors and trust me when I tell you that you can figure out the rest. E Z, E Z, E Z!!!!!

A. Fridge Water Dispenser stopped working B. Burner switch
I have wood panels so I had to bend the plastic faceplate alot to remove. It is more flexible than I thought, and I had no instruction in this regard, and people should know this. As you folks indicated to an 80% degree of certainty it was a broken control bracket, which was easy to replace. I replaced the micro switch, easy, anyway, and kept the old one as a backup for short $ - less than $10. You folks were perfect and exact!!! Burner switch was easy and didn't even need replacement after all; burner was working ok after all. You're great!

The control bracket which holds the micro switches broken on the water side.
Removed the front cover, not easy, I was worried it was going to break but it did pop off. Be sure to locate the two notches on the bottom so your pulling in the correct location. Unplugged the wire harness from the front cover and control panel, there is a locking tab on one side that must be released to unplug. Removed two screws that hold the control bracket, slide it out and remove the micro switches and lamp holder. Unplug the wires from the micro switches, it is easier to do when they are not in the control bracket. Attach the wires to the new micro switches, I replaced both since it was apart. Install the spacers for the switches and then slide on each switch. Make sure they are locked into the notch on the two support pins for each switch. Snap in the lamp holder and check the wiring routes so nothing is pinched. Attach the control bracket and plug the front panel into the control bracket plug and then test the water and ice. If they both work you've done a good job. The new control panel has a place to slide the wiring connection in so it stays in place. Do it now and snap the cover back on. I had to hit the bottom corners pretty hard to get it to snap in but once it is in place it is solid. It took about 30 minutes but I had taken this apart before when I discovered the holders for the water micro switch were broken so that made it much easier the second time around. The new bracket and holders seem to be made better. The new drip tray is also much better and fits much better two. Good luck, don't be in a hurry.

Ice maker stopped dispensing ice.
I watched the video this site has on their website and I did exactly as the instructor did. I had my ice maker fixed in less than 30 minutes. I had watched the video prior to receiving my parts so I already had the prep work done. I had the parts removed that needed removing and all I did was slide the new ones into place. Use the parts chart on this site to make sure you get the right parts and use the video to uninstall/install your parts. Do exactly like the instructor says and you won't have any problems. It was as my school kids say, "easy peasy". Thanks!!!

How do you get at the place to replace the micro switch for the water dispenser .
For model number gd5nhxlq00

Hi Tom, Thank you for the question, First unplug the refrigerator. Next remove the ring surrounding the dispenser starting at the bottom, you can use a thin putty knife or something similar to pry the ring off. Next unscrew the two hex screws and remove the switch. Then reverse the steps. Hope this helps!

I tried to remove the front dispenser panel but it does not want to unclip at the bottom and there are no screws to remove. I am afraid of breaking the panel. Suggestions?
For model number msd2552very00

Hello Mike, Thank you for your inquiry. The best way to release the tabs at the bottom is with a putty knife that you've placed tape over the end of to prevent scratches. Hope this helps!

My water dispenser keeps on dripping after i remove my cup. Also ice dispenser wont dispense cubed ice.
For model number ED5PHEXNL00
PartSelect logo
Hi Paul, Thank you for your inquiry. If the dispenser is leaking water and the ice maker is not making crushed ice, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the water inlet valve, the ice maker, the water filter housing, the water tubing, the water filter, the control bracket, the ice bin auger drum, the ice door kit, the ice maker control assembly, and the micro switch. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

For model number ED22PQXFN01

Hello Debbie, Thank you for your inquiry. We would recommend checking the following parts to fix your issue: Ice Dispenser Kit Motor, micro switch, ice door kit, icemaker control assembly, dispenser switch-WP2180279, ice bucket and auger assembly, dispenser solenoid, and ice maker assembly. You can test the parts with a multimeter for continuity. Hope this helps!

I had the water dispenser pushed in and water was running and then stopped. It would not dispense water again. Can you help?
For model number GD5RHAXSQ01
PartSelect logo
Hello Jimmy, Thanks for your question. This could arise from a few different parts. Test the micro switch and water inlet valve with a multimeter to check for electrical continuity, and replace either if they do not show continuity.. Examine the control bracket for signs of wear and tear. Replace the water filter if it has not been replaced in the last 6 months. Examine the water filter housing as well for any signs of damage. I hope this helps.

Both ice and water stopped dispensing all the sudden! What could be the issue, please?Thank you for your help.
For model number Whirlpool GD5PHAXMS10
PartSelect logo
Hello Adam, thank you for your question. There are a few parts we would recommend testing to determine the issue. We would recommend testing the Part #: PS11738948 micro switch, the water valve PartSelect Number: PS3497634, and the dispenser board itself. If you can make selections on the panel, the issue is probably not the board, but one of the aforementioned parts. If these parts are fine, you may want to check the water filter, filter housing and tubing to be sure the water is being distributed properly. I hope this helps.

My ice dispenser does not dispense ice. The switch to crushed ice does not seem to work. I replaced the auger motor and it will turn the rotor clockwise, but it does not run in reverse when switched to crushed ice. When the ice bucket is attached with ice in it, the motor hums but does not turn the auger. I can turn the auger manually and it will dispense ice. Will replacing the micro switch in the door fix this problem?
For model number KSCS25FKSS00
PartSelect logo
Hello John, Thanks for your question. The micro switch would be the most likely solution to your issue since you have already replaced the motor. I hope this helps.

Water dispenser does not stop right away after the cup is removed.
For model number GD2NHGXKT01

Hi Robert, Thank you for your question. If the water keeps dispensing after the cup is removed, the issue is likely the micro switch and you will need to test it to verify if it is working properly. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Water dispenser begins with good flow, but almost immediately slows to minimal flow. Ice dispenses normally. I have changed the filter and tubing from filter.
For model number GD5SHAXLT02

Hello Bill and thank you for writing. It certainly sounds like it could be a faulty control bracket PS11739027 and/or a faulty microswitch PS11738948, you should check for signs of damage, and replace if necessary. You should also check your water inlet valve PS3497634 for signs of defect. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime if you require further assistance.
