Easy repair
My freezer was leaking water out door for about a month. Found evaporator was full of frozen water. Thawed out and tried again. The element ended up melting inside of freezer compartment. After checking element, should have had about 16.5 K ohms at 32 degrees. Mine measured 240 K ohms at any temp. Ordered part. Came in about 3 days. Installation was easy. Works like a charm now!

defroster element and or thermostat was not working.
removed the shelves in the freezer compartment and removed the two screws holding the back panel on over the coils and simply removed the male wire plug from the female plug and pulled the wires for the heating element down thru the coils and released the spring clip holding the element in place and removed, and installed the new element and thermostat in reverse order. Very simple.

Not defrosting the coils warming up the compartments
Removed housing on the freezer side and removed the assembly by removing the two bottom clips and then unclipping the wire harness, two prong, and replaced as remvoved. Power was off of course. Watched for 24 hours and recovered housing and its been working great.

Cannot contact via instruction given by Parts Select so they can answer question below.
Recently I ordered a defroster element from PartSelect Number PS11743275 Manufacturer Part Number WP61006116 for my Maytag Refrigerator/Freezer Model MSD2354ARW. The part received has two numbers on the bag containing the part #61006198 and WP61006198. It looks similar to the picture but the wire connection has three sockets while the element in my freezer has two. Could I have received an incorrect part?
Where do I go from here?
Thanks,

Replacing the part wp61006116 will this stop the coil freezing and keep the refrigerator cold. At the moment I have to annually defrost the freezer part and coils to get the refrigerator to stay cold for only a week.
For model number MSB2354AR
Hello Douglas, Thank you for the question. I woudl suggest testing the part. The best way to do this is to remove the thermostat from the refrigerator so you can control the temperature of the sensor. You can let the sensor warm up to room temperature. With the sensor warmed up to room temperature the sensor should read approximately 6.2K Ohms at 68°F. With the thermistor submerged is a glass full of ice water, the sensor should be very close to 32°F which should read approximately 16.3K Ohms. If the values that you are getting are far off from these readings, then the sensor is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps!
