Door switch inconsistent operation for Open/Close sensing.
Ordered top & bottom micro-switches and mounting plate parts. Internet reviews could not find specifics if the issue was due to a top/bottom or combination of micro-switch or mounting plate failure. Pulled the plug. Removed the top vent assembly cover held in by 2 Phillips screws inside the vent. Removed the control panel held in by 1 Phillip screw at the top vent assembly area. Lifted control panel upward to release the catch and moved it off to the side - didn't disconnect any leads. Used a Torx bit to remove the door switch mounting plates at the front and pulled the plates through the opening from the control panel. Documented the wire color code connections, the top plate uses 2 micro's with one using both the closed & open contact. Installed the respective micros on the mounting plates and worked backwards with the wiring and removal steps. Once completed, the open/close sensing has worked every time.

Microwave atempted to start the shut off
This site was correct in description of what was causing the problem.
I found broken white plastic parts in base of microwave, found they came from switch holder interlock support. Only reason it took me as long as it did is I did not make a diagram of the wires that I had removed.( would help to have easy access to wiring diagrams or have them on the internet ) But on the internet I found a Video by repairclinic.com the photo in the video pointed me in the right direction and allowed me to get my wiring in order the microwave then started up and runs correctly. As to the plastic parts found in the base of the unit, this unit was a floor model and probably had the door opened and slammed shut many times, breaking the Top interlock. Thanks to this site

Top support for door switch broke.
Part of the support was missing. I had to remove the two switches and put them in the new bracket
Had the switches reversed and started blowing fuses. Reversed them and changed the fuse and it started working.

Screen says shut door to start. The upper and lower latches (part that hold door shut) have sucked back up into the microwave. What do i need to fix this? Whirlpool customer support was no help.
For model number WMH32517AS2
Hello Nyssa, thank you for your question. There are two interlock supports on the inside of the cabinet of the microwave that hold the door shut. When the door is shut the prongs on the door activates the switches to allow the unit to operate. You will want to order the Support, Interlock (Top) Part Number: PS11745301 and the Interlock (Bottom) Part Number: PS11749178. You will also want to be sure the Interlock Spring and the CAM-PLATE are in the right positions as well. I hope this helps!

Hi, I have a Maytag microwave. The top interlocking door latch has failed and not letting microwave latch and operate. I would like to know what parts to order and to replace both top and bottom latch, and directions. Thanks
For model number mmv4205ds1
Hello Tim, Thank you for contacting us. I have researched the model you have provided and have found the part you are looking for is Part Number: PS11745301 for the top interlock and Part Number: PS11749178 for the bottom. To get to those parts, you will first have to remove your grille. There should be a couple of screws holding it in place at the top. Once you have that removed you will see the screw holding the top of your control panel in. You will have to remove that and then also remove the one on the bottom as well. That will reveal your interlocking parts and micro switches to you. They just pull in and out of place on the switch housing. Good luck with your repair.

My microwave will not stay closed. The top latch is not connecting. I need to know which parts to order to repair this. (this problem seems to be on the microwave and not the door side.) can you help?
For model number MMV5208WW1
Hi Tanya,
Thank you for your question. If the microwave door is not shutting properly, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which ones are causing the issue. You will need to check the door switches, the top interlock support, the interlock, the interlock spring and the cam plate. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
