Gasket old and leaking
This freezer has many screws that hold the cover on the back of the door and assist clamping the edge of the gasket in place. Be sure to just loosen the screws 3/4 the way out, use a flat head screw driver to pry the cover from the door in case over time it is stuck to the door. The new gasket will come in a creative box trying not to kink the gasket itself, but there will be some distortion of the gasket when you get it. Put it in the sun or in hot water. I put it in my dryer for 10 minutes. Remove the old gasket, and start at the top of the door to replace the gasket. TIPS: If the screws are backed out enough, there should not be any problem sliding the back part of the gasket under the cover. When on the sides, do not pull the gasket down to make it easier to slide the gasket underneath the cover. This will distort and lengthen the gasket so it will not fit and thin it out so it will not function well. Once the gasket is in place, tighten the screws being sure to feel along the outside edge of the gasket for any bulging that would indicate that portion of the gasket is NOT under the cover properly.

Frost inside freezer.. Old door gasket leaking.
Pretty straight forward. Loosen all screws "but do not remove" pry door panel from door just enough to slip gasket behind panel. Make sure gasket is seated properly around door.. Tighten all screws snug...
Gasket may not seal right away due to being kinked from packaging, use a little heat on gasket witth hairdryer and push something heavy against door over night. The gasket will straighten out over night.

Freezer is 17 yrs old so needed a new gasket. The results were poor since the new gasket would not allow the door to seal.
Removed the numerous screws and took the door panel off. Cleaned and dried it. Replaced the insulation and hung the penal with 2 screws at the top and sides. Started to fit the gasket under the edge of the panel and put on the screws as I went across the top then down the sides finishing across the bottom. Perfect fit but could not get the door to seal at all. Went out and bought a new freezer(did I say it was 17 yrs old?!?!).

Original magnetic door seal no longer sealing & showing gaps. Freezer running continuously. Getting ice buildup around door frame & inside top of freezer.
I originally ordered an aftermarket replacement seal off intranet at half the price. It came in poor packaging & crumpled in a ball when received. After install, it would not seal & worse than the old seal that was replaced. I removed poor quality seal & returned it. I then ordered the OEM seal from PartSelect. It came in proper packaging. I kept the inside door shelving in place with two mid screws. Beginning at top I inserted sealing grove into channel of shelving working all the way around door frame. Making sure there was no crinkles or bulges at one place & it was all even. I replaced all screws ensuring not to over tighten. Close door and made sure magnetic seal pull closed to freezer & door on both sides by sliding my finger all the way around. I did not open the door for 1 hour to ensure rubber seal had taken proper shape to freezer frame. After I worked door Open/Close many times. Door seal worked perfectly every time then and now. This is a perfect example why to buy quality parts the first time.

The temperature displayed on the control panel was erratic
The replacement of the Thermistor is a snap. Take out the bottom two shelves, remove the 8 screws in the back panel, pull it out. Cut the wires to the old thermistor and install the new one. There are demo's on you tube so I wont go into detail.
Unfortunately the replacement door seal was packaged with twists in it and would not lay flat on the door. I found the old seal was not the problem - but instead ice had grown between the door and the door panel so that the door would not seal properly. I reinstalled the old door seal and everything is fine now.

Door wouldn't stay shut or seal.
Layed the seal out in the driveway in the sun to warm it up. Unscrewed the screws, not all the way. Removed old seal. Stared at the top corner, working our way around, making sure corners lined up. Don't pull on the seal or you will stretch it. Once it's applied and all corners are lined up, tighten crews down lightly. The seal mediately stuck but it took a few hours for the vacuum to suck it down. Easy breezy!

Does this seal have a magnet in it??
For model number F82U20F3W0
Hi Jenny,
Thank you for your inquiry. Most gaskets have a magnetic strip so that the gasket can magnet to the appliance when the door is closed, however this is not how the gasket will install. This particular gasket is sandwiched between the door panels. You don't have to take the door apart, just unscrew the panels enough so that you can push the gasket into place. Good luck with your repair.

Door ajar alarm is continually going off and there is no suction when the door is shut. It used to forcibly pull and suction the door to the freezer body. Making it really hard to open the door. That is now gone. Gasket looks good and appears to seal all the way around. Freezer temps are good. There is sweating on the outside of the freezer but freezer is located outside. We have replaced the light switch and computer module. Would replacing the gasket fix this door ajar issue? Or is there some other part that helps with the suction and seal?
For model number LFFH21F7HWG
Hello Ruth, thank you for your question. If the computer module part number 297366300 has been replaced and the alarm is still sounding I would recommend replacing the gasket. The new gasket may create a better seal and may disable the alarm when the door is sealed well. I hope this helps!

Is it recommended to remove the freezer door before replacing the gasket, just as well to leave door on? Seems like easier to remove the door, and then install gasket, thank u for ur feedback
Hi John,
Thank you for your question. Here is a link to one of our YouTube videos that you may reference on how to install a door gasket, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_YGyLUT564. The refrigerator in the video may not show exactly like the one you have, but it will give you a general idea on how to install the part. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Can a lack of suction seal cause the door ajar alarm signal?
For model number LFFH21F7HWG
Hi Ruth,
Thank you for your question. Generally that will be caused that noise to happen is because your door switch is not realizing that the door is closed. If your gasket is not sealing correctly against the cabinet and activating the switch, that could be the reason why it is beeping. If your gasket is sealing against your cabinet then it may be your door switch that is the issue. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Freezer sets on covered porch. BUT it did the same as follows even in the house. It will starts to melt when door is open, and freeze back. But even when the door is closed for long periods it just keeps building up Ice starting from the top shelf and top of inside door then keeps working it way down freezing up with Ice around all the food. Until you have to defrost it. As soon as you plug it up IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN ! You can hear the suction of the door closing when you first defrost it and is hard to pull the door open to put food back it. Still shuts good even when it Ices OVER. I put tape on it & have a heavy drum against door thinking it was not staying closed. It still freezes up NEVER STOPS & then freezes the door shut. Could it still be the seal ? Or something else.THANKS Louise
