No water from the dispenser and Water leaking on floor
I searched YouTube for the problem and was quickly taken to several videos that detailed to required actions. This encouraged me to proceed, so I took the back cover off and found the water valve leaking. I then googled the make and model of the frig and found the part. The YouTube videos provided all of the details needed to determine the problem and replace the faulty part. Once the part arrived, I was able to install the new one in a few minutes. Operation returned to the water dispenser and the leak was gone. Total cost of the repair was $56 and took about 1.5 hours to remove the original part, order the replacement and install it when it came. Perfect!

Uncontrollable water out of ice maker.
Since I didnot know if the issue was with the “ice maker” or the “ water valve” I decided to replace both components. I replaced the ice cube maker first, which required removing the attached bracket from the old unit on to the new unit. One screw attached and than I leveled the unit( total time was about 1 hr) a little learning curve. Next I replaced the “water valve” (total time 20 min.) I replaced each hose one at a time and the same for the electric connectors. Total parts arrived in about 1 week and cost a little over $255.00. I called the appliance store and they quoted me an estimate of over $700 ++++.
Everything works perfectly!! BELIEVE in yourself.

slow water drip from the dispenser
Pulled the fridge away from the wall. Unplugged. Turned water supply off. Removed the bottom panel. One screw and a small hook holds the assembly on. Remove clips from the solenoids. Disconnected the main water supply line. Pushed up and held the clamp ring and pulled the water/ice maker supply lines out. Replaced everything in reverse order. Simple fix!

Why are there two coils(blue) with one water outlet on this valve assembly?
For model number PS1483564
PartSelect logo
Hi Dennis, Thank you for your inquiry. There should be be 2 outlets on this water inlet valve. One for the ice maker and one for the dispenser on the refrigerator door. There should be one inlet which is under a rubber cap when you first get it that will allow the water to come into the refrigerator. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Water dispenser has stopped working. Ice maker works perfectly.. can you tell me which replacement part i should order to fix this.
For model number PSCS5RGXAFSS
PartSelect logo
Hello Vincent, thank you for your question. The issue might be with the water valve itself. You can test this unit with a multimeter. It is possible that the valve port to the icemaker is working and not the dispenser port. I would also advise checking Dispenser Door Solenoid Assembly Part Number: WR62X10055 as well as the micro switch in the dispenser area which is Micro Switch Part Number: WR23X10783. Both of these parts are able to be tested with a multimeter as well! I hope this helps!

My ice maker is not producing ice. There is no water reaching the ice maker. Water comes out perfectly when dispensing water. Checked solenoids water dispensing in the 300’s. Ice maker solenoid is 132 on the meter. I’m leaning towards the solenoid any opinions?
For model number GSHS5PGXAESS

I get no water to the ice tray. Have replaced the solenoid. The motor and arm seem to work. Water dispensed to the door ok and every thing else seems fine. Would you suggest the water valve?
For model number DSHS5PGXAESS
PartSelect logo
Hi Jack, Thank you for the question. The first thing to replace would be the water valve. The valve has two sides, one for the dispenser and the other for the ice maker. If the valve didn't fix the issue, the ice maker will need to be replaced. Hope this helps!

Does. Malfunctioning water valve(pump) cause intermittent water dispensing with a clicking sound when water ceases to be pumped while still depressing the door water/ice switch? Thank you in advance for your answer.
For model number GSS25KSWASS
PartSelect logo
Hi Stephen, Thank you for your question. It could, I would suggest testing the valve with a multi meter to be sure. However you may also want to check your dispenser door solenoid as well. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Not getting water to dispense; however, it is flowing to the ice maker fine. Press the flapper and there is a humming noise to the back of the non-freezer side. Replaced filter (3 months old), no change. Thought solinoid in the valve, so replaced the valve. Still not working. The other odd thing, on the display, it says replace filter. Also the light indicator (not the actual light bulb) stays on whether the light is on or not. Any ideas?
For model number PSCS5VGXCFSS
PartSelect logo
Hi Ben, Thank you for your question. If the replace filter light is on the GE website advises, "After you change the filter the RESET WATER FILTER must be pressed and held until the red light goes off. On some models the light goes out, and others will turn green; either is considered normal. If you do not hold the pad in, the red light will stay on. Also, if you hold the pad in for a long period of time, the light will go off and then come back on. If this does not turn the red light off, having it checked by a service technician is recommended." If there is no water being dispensed, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which ones are causing the issue. You will need to check the dispenser door solenoid, the micro switch and the dispenser door assembly/flapper. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

How can I test the water valve to be sure that the valve is bad? I do not get ice to make on the ice maker.
For model number PSS26MSWASS
PartSelect logo
Hello Carlos, Thanks for your question. You will need a multimeter to test the part for electrical continuity. Examine it visually as well for any signs of damage. You may also want to consider replacing the water filter if you have not done so within the last 6 months. I hope this helps.
