Easy Repair!
The delivery was exceptionally fast. The spring was not included which surprised me! The door works, but not to my satisfaction. It makes too much noise! As for the installation it was as easy as shown in the video supplied.

Fixing my ice dispenser could not have been easier
The door that opens and lets the ice out of my fridge broke. The hinge on the 'flapper' broke and the solenoid actuated door needed to be replaced. Maytag did not even have a listing of my fridge as they think it is too old. I found PartSelect.ca on the internet, found my model number on their system, then found my part AND a link to an excellent video that showed me how to install it. I ordered the part on a Sunday, it arrived on Tuesday and I installed it Tuesday evening in about 15 minutes......Absolutely awesome. The only tools I needed were a screw driver and a pair of needle nose pliers. The electrical parts just unplugged. The kit included both the door and a new solenoid, but I only related the door and am keeping the solenoid for the future. I could not be happier with PartSelect.ca...A great company that certainly thinks of everything to make the repair a success. Their website in now 'bookmarked' and I have passed their name along to several friends. Bill Tully, Tottenham, Ontario.

Ice Dispenser "round chute" broken side tab, ice/water fountain not working
I could see that a tab was broken from the round chute that opens for ice dispensing and closes to seal off freezer ice chute when not in use. With the tab broken, the round door would not shut to seal the freezer chute and dispensing water would spatter everywhere. I looked for just the round door part, but is only sold in the "Ice dispenser solenoid and door kit" I only had to use the round chute/flap from the kit. The instructions were easy to follow and I had the fridge back working in about 10 minutes. It took me longer to find the right star headed screwdriver that I needed to remove the Maytag star screws (5) total. Because I didn't have to replace the solenoid or the spring mechanism, this was especially easy, and now I have those parts on hand if one day I need them!!

fountain flap was broken and let warm air in.
We just followed the instruction sheet that was included in the parts package. (instruction sheet has pictures) I just removed the 2 screws from the front and then disconnedted the element. unscrewed a couple more screws put on the new parts and reconnected the element put back the screws and it was done! I'm a single womand so me and my 23 yr old daughter did this project together. I ordered the parts early in the day and got them the next day. I only paid for 2-3 day shipping. I have ordered parts from Sears. They never have them in stock! The last order cost me $19.95 to ship. I waited more than 2 week for them to arrive. With Partselect the job was finished in 3 days!!

The Ice and Water Dispenser Would Run on After the Glass Was Removed
I am going to be completely honest here. This problem had persisted for months. I finally decided that I would buy all the associated parts and repair the unit hoping to cover the problem. Much to my surprise, after carrying out the repair, using the instructions provided by PartSelect, I still had the problem. I decided to remove and LUBRICATE the button which depresses the Limit Switch when you push a glass against the rubber membrane. Low and behold the problem was solved. The frig is nine years old, so I feel I may have prevented other problems in the future by replacing the three parts. It was a follow the directions sort of repair. I was very pleased with PartSelect response to my order (received it next day) with standard shipping.

Ice Door Would Not Open
Jenn-air jcd-2389gtw refridgerator/freezer side by side ice door would not open to dispense ice from the ice dispensor I did an online order for the repair kit #ps2003478 (115v) ice dispenser solenoid and door kit to fix the problem with the ice door not opening. As I had deduced, the “solenoid” had gone bad, and the kit held most all the items required to make the repair. The only additional item the kit needs to have is the “fountain door return spring”. Be careful not to loose the spring when disassembling the unit. You might want to order an additional spring just in case you loose or break the original. The instruction sheet was pretty thorough, except for being small and the pictures hard to see. My refrigerator/freezer has decorative panels that had to be removed before I was actually able to get the escutcheon off of the unit, and this configuration wasn’t addressed in the instructions. After figuring out that I had to remove all the trim from the door of the freezer before I could start the repair, the job wasn’t that difficult, but you have to have patience and take your time to make sure you don’t damage the electrical components of the ice dispenser. Make sure you note the position and location of the fountain door return spring before you remove the ice door!! This is important so that you can get the correct “tension” when reinstalling the mechanism. If there isn’t enough tension on the spring, the door will not seal properly, and the dispenser will freeze up. Also, when it comes time to disconnect the “electrical edge connector” from the control panel, be sure to make note of it’s position. It isn’t difficult to pull off, but could be easily broken if you are not careful. The rest of the repair and installation is straight forward and simple. Just take your time and it goes back together pretty easily. Tools you will need are; needle nose pliers, phillips screwdriver with a small and medium bit, and a “torx” tool set to remove the torx screws from the escutcheon and fountain bracket.

the flap holding the ice back broke
First I cut the power to the refrigerator. Followed the instructions for removing the door panel. Disconnected the electrical panel to the door controls. replaced the flap only and reassembled. Hate I had to by the solenoid when all I needed was the flap. Ordered the part and had it the next day, very fast shipping. I have used PartSelect for other appliance parts and had good service from them.

The part that closes with the solenoid broke off and did not close the ice maker
I removed the two screws that hold the element in place. I then unscrewed the four remaining screws with a star screwdriver and pulled the element out and disconnected the wire. I removed the part containing the solenoid, spring loaded holder and the plastic closer. I did not need to replace the solenoid or the spring loading device only the round circular piece that opens and closes the ice door. I just snapped it into the spring loaded part and replaced everything as I had removed it. It was very simple. Your need the star screwdriver though for removing the screws.

Door flap not opening correctly and noise when pushing button for water
This repair was relatively easy due to the instructions provided and took about 15 minutes. Originally, I had bought a door flap thinking that was the problem (a small plastic piece on the flap had broken off) but after replacing that the assembly still would not allow ice flow. I then purchased the kit including solenoid and the repair worked. I had a bad solenoid all along. My suggestion is to replace the entire kit rather than one part as it is likely all parts need replacement.

Ice Maker selnoid malfunctioned.
I called PartSelect and was greeted by a real live person instead of a recording. The lady was very helpful and kind. We decided on the part that I needed, and it arrived to my home in less time than she said it should. I completed the repair with the instructions provided in just a short time. My experience with PartSelect was positive, and it reminded me of the way businesses used to be. I highly recommend them.

The round door that opens and closes to let ice through the door is no long attached. We also saw a flat piece of plastic that appears to be snapped and broken. Do you think that if I purchase the ice dispenser solenoid and door kit that all needed parts are included? Thanks!
For model number MSD2356AEW
Hi Thomas, Thank you for the question. Yes this kit will have all the parts needed for the repair. Here is a link to our video on how to install the kit as well. Good luck with the repair!

Lately the water dispenser switch has been sticking in the open position. That is to say, when you put a glass against the grey rubber panel and press to dispense a glass of water, the water continues to flow after the glass has been removed. In order to turn it off i have been having to push on several places on the grey panel.

Hi David, it sounds like some of the door on the door may be getting stuck in the open position causing water to come out after the water should shut off. You can try and take it apart see if it needs cleaning or a damaged part may need to be replaced entirely. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair!

Hello Mike and thanks for writing.
Look for the Reset Button
To access it, you must first remove the ice tray. Once you do that, you should see the bright red reset button on the bottom of the ice maker itself. To reset the ice maker, push this button in and hold it for 10 seconds. We hope this helps. Please contact us at any time

The water dispenser released a full flow of water without a demand. Ice maker does work on demand. Once i shut off water valve at the wall and power, only the water line is inop. Any ideas? Thanks!
For model number JCD2389DEW
Hi Greg,
Thank you for your question. I would actually suggest that you check your water inlet valve. You valve has two solenoids on it, one for your ice and one for your water dispenser. It could be that the ice is working and the water is not. You would be able to test this part with a multi meter. Test each solenoid to make sure they are both working. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

The ice and water dispenser is not working and the dispenser door is not opening is it the solenoid or the dispenser circut board? I can't seem to find the exact model or the circut boards for any of the mzd2766ge models
For model number MZD2766GE*
Hello Mike, thank you for your question. I would recommend replacing the Ice Dispenser Solenoid and Door Kit 12001991 first. That is the most likely issue. If the solenoid doesn't fix the issue the other option would be the Dispenser Control Board Part Number: WP61005274. I hope this helps!

Ice maker and chute keep freezing up. Door going up to chute seems to be closing. Took apart ,spring to close door ok. Any idea what is wrong.
For model number MSD2456GEQ
Hi Bob,
Thank you for your inquiry. If the ice maker and ice chute are freezing up then it may caused by a number of factors. It may be caused by a frozen ice maker fill tube, a faulty water inlet valve, the temperature in the refrigerator is too low or the water filter needs to be replaced. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
