Lens cracked and bulbs burned out
First I removed the single screw holding the lens assembly in place. Then I lowered the assembly and tilted it until it came out. To remove the existing cracked glass lens there were four tabs bent down on it. By hand I lifted each tab just enough to remove the broken lens. I then replaced the broken lens with the new one and re-bent the tabs down by hand to secure them to the new lens.

The lens assembly, now removed, revealed the cavity that contained the two halogen bulbs. Since they were both burned out for days, they weren't hot so I could pull each one out by hand. The bulbs are secured by two straight heavy gauge wire leads and provided a little resistance but come out fairly easily. Make a mental note of the angle they came out so it will be easier to replace them with new ones.

You're not supposed to touch halogen bulbs with your bare hands, so I used the bubble wrap they came in as a means to hold the bulb while installing it.

Be sure to insert the bulbs at the same angle they came out so the pins do not get bent.

Once both bulbs are in place, replace the lens cover assembly by putting the end opposite where the screw hole goes in first on the right, then swing it up until flush and screw it down.

repair broken lens and replace light bulb.
This was a super easy repair job. I couldn't figure out how the lens that covered the light bulb would have cracked and realized it must have been from my contractor when he replaced my stove. I can't prove it, of course, so I am left doing the repairs. The website was very easy to order from and confirm that I had the correct parts as the model numbers tend to change over time.

Original filter needed replacement, bulb socket was damaged, lens was broken.
Removed the 7 screws holding the bottom of the microwave cover, also opened the access covers to the lights. Damaged socket was easily replaced along with both bulbs and the broken lens, then resecured the covers. Top front cover was removed (2 screws) and the new filter was inserted, then the cover replaced. Very easy, about 15 minutes, without any injuries!

Broken glass and bad bulb
Removed one screw, slid frame out and removed broken glass. replaced bulb. The hard part was slidding the frame back in place and starting the screw. We were very surprised at the fast delivery of the parts, thank you. The sad part, a few days later the glass broke again. We are trying to get to the people at GE to solve our problem. We feel like that will not happen, we just do not have the time to stay on hold on the phone waiting for someone to solve our problem. Will reorder glass.

stove Lights on bottom of microwave burned out and glass cover broke
Just unscrewed the screw holding the cover in place, removed the broken glass wearing gloves and then removed both of the burned out lights. Replaced the bulbs while wearing gloves to avoid the commone problem of contaminating the halogen bulbs during installation which can shorten their life. Replaced glass into cover bent back short tabs to hold the glass in place and closed the cover. Reattached cover with screw and it was done 15 minutes tops

Burnt out Halogen Bulbs and Broken Glass Shield
I usually replace the charcoal filter in the Microwave one every 3 months. this light out looked confusing and complicated at first, however I was surprised how easy it was when you have proper tools and directions from fellow Do It Yourselfers.
