Clicking due to agitator dogs slipping
One bolt (after removing the fabric softener dispenser and a water tight cover you will see it). Remove the bolt and slide it straight up and then it's the reverse to put in the new one. Very simple repair and very inexpensive if you willing to do it yourself.

The upper part of the agitator wasn't working.
I removed the bolt holding the agitator in the tub and lifted the agitator out. There seemed to be a part near the top that was not engaging. I decided to order a replacement to see if that was the problem (my local repairman had guessed the problem was in the transmission and said I should just replace the machine.) I ordered the part online and it arrived in only two days. I was very happily surprised by the speed with which I received the part. I put the new agitator in, tightened the bolt and ran a load of clothes. All worked perfectly

CLothes weren't getting dry enough for the dryer.. also made a squeling, rubbing noise while aggitating. Had a repair man for my dishwasher..told him I thought it was the transmission.. he hand turned the aggitator and said that was the problem.. Just needed a new aggitator....whew what a relief!
I'm a 70 year old widow.. ordered the part which came in 2 days..(.very reasonably priced) My son came over and in no time had the old out and new in...works like a new machine... Thank you Part Select. A few months ago ordered a stove ignitor..it too came really fast... stove is good for another 15 years..LOL

Agitation weak
Got the washer used. Agitation was okay, but the screw part of the agitator was very weak and kept slipping, so bought a replacement agitator. This DID NOT fix the problem, it remained the same. Watched a video on this site about the part under the agitator, whereupon we saw there was supposed to be a washer on top of the spike-thing where you screw the agitator down. THAT was the problem. That washer was missing, and when we replaced it, the agitation was fixed! Very much appreciate this site.

The fabric softener bowl looked dirty so I removed it to clean, the area under the bowl was dirty so I removed it, the area around the bolt was dirty so I removed it and pulled off the agitator and it along with the bottom surface under the agitator was black. I cleaned what I could but the inside of the agitator is dirty. Any way to take agitator apart to clean it. Also, any suggestions on how to prevent further dirt build ups?
For model number GLWS1349AS1

Hi Joe, Thank you for the question. Unfortunately the agitator does not come apart. You can try to run a load with no clothes and add vinegar to the water. Doing this once a month should help with build up. Hope this helps!

I am trying to remove the agitator, I removed the softener cup but I am not able to get the waterproof cap off to get to the bolt any suggestions?
For model number FWS845GFS1
PartSelect logo
Hi Cheryl, Thank you for your question. It is difficult after years of use. You may need a strong set of pliers to be able to twist that cap off. Unfortunately that is the only way to remove that seal. Good luck with your repair.

Did as instructions say, agitator will not lift off. It is a dual agitator. Machine spins and drains but agitator won't agitate.
For model number crws57c0as0
PartSelect logo
Hello Erica, thank you for your question. The agitator is held into place by a bolt that is under the cap and seal inside the agitator. If you remove the fabric softener cup and look down inside you'll see a cap with a black seal around it. The cap twists off, then the bolt can be removed and the agitator lifted off and out of the tub. If the unit is spins and drains, but isn't agitating, check the belt, pulley, and tensioner under the tub by the motor as well. I hope this helps!
