Ice maker stopped functioning
Remove the icemaker service door... gently pry the door pins from the hinge sockets. Remove the 3 screws from the under side of the icemaker with a nut driver (1/4"). Gently remove the icemaker . It's a tight fit between the top of the compartment and the icemaker lower support tray. Next, disconnect the electrical connector at the right side. You're done! Reverse procedure for installing. Good luck. Remember, your working with cold plastic...take your time and don't force too much.

Ice maker quit working
First called the Sears repairman out (big mistake). I was worried it was something with the water line, but he ran some diagnostics and got it working. It did make one batch of ice. Cost $140 for the visit. The "fix" was short lived, since it immediately quit working again. After doing lots of reading online, all I could gather was that the main wheel inside was out of alignment/sync. Sears has a 90-day warranty on repairs, so we called them back. Of course, their warranty only covers their previous repair only, but at least we wouldn't get charged the $55 fee just to have them come out. Second repairman said there was a broken part inside the icemaker assembly, and it would cost over $320 to fix this time ($230 for the part, $70 for labor, plus tax). We politely declined. Found a whole new icemaker assembly from PartSelect for $68. Once it arrived, it was literally just three screws/bolts holding in the entire assembly, unplug the wire chassis, just like a computer motherboard, insert new assembly, plug in wire assembly, put screws back in. Works like a champ...

my icemaker stopped working. I think the motor was too weak to release the cubes
Removed two screws and popped loose the ice door. Disconnected the single electrical connector. Slid out the old, slide in the new. It worked like a charm. - Still dissappointed that the whirlpool icemaker broke after only 2 years, but the new one works great!

I installed a new icemaker and ice level sensors I also had to replace crummy plastic trim parts because of poor quality and broke during disassembly

ice maker did not work. Water came in, however, unit woud not eject ice.
I unplugged the refrigerator, then I taped ice shield up to top of refrigerator and taped the little flap on the left side of the refrigerator to side wall then I unscrewed one screw on the right side that holds the plug cover, which was then removed. I then updid the little latches on the icemaker and pulled the old ice maker out far enough to unplug the connector, which was not easy, but did unplug. I then unscrewed the three screws with the nutdriver and attached the bottom cover to the new ice maker. I then slid the new icemaker far enough to connect the electrical connector, then slid the new icemaker in until it latched. I replaced the connector cover and untaped the two items that had been taped and pluged the refrigerator into the wall socket. The new icemaker has produced ice every since.

Icemaker Failed After 2 Years Top Of Line Unit
Removed plastic door over ice maker remove 4 screws and slide unit out after disconecting pull apart elect. Plug. Pop off side gear cover install on new and slide in, reconnecting electric plug as you go.

Ice maker was flooding freezer
Replaced 8 cube ice maker assembly. Contrary to instructions I 1st removed 2 screws on the flapper door 2 removed 3 screws in bottom and 1 screw on right side bottom and pulled shelf out unplugged plug and lifted assembly off put new one on shelf plugged it in and slid it back into place replaceing. screws. was done in 10 min. start to finish . so far seems to have solved the problem.

Not Making ice
I took a 1/4 nut driver and removed the wire cover. I then used a small screwdriver to push up the clips the lock the unit in place. I then unplugged the unit and removed. I then used the same nut driver and removed the bottom plastic cover and installed it on the new icemaker. I then put the new unit part way back onto it slides, being carful to make sure the water fill spout clears the unit. Next I plugged in the wire harness and then slid the unit the rest of the way in until it locked in place. I then reinstalled the wire cover.
This unit was delivered at 1:30 and it was installed by 2

Ice maker quit making ice.
Ice Maker quit working. Seemed like a water supply issue but when I read the other reviews, I decided to install and see. bolted the bracket on with three screws, slid in place. Nothing happened and about 10 minutes later, I heard the water release to the ise maker and have been making ice ever since.

Ice maker broke and not repariable
PartSelect was fantastic and I would recommend them to anyone! Online, Sears only showed a parts breakdown so I went to the service center. They could sell me an ice maker but PartSelect had the same ice maker for $35 less and it was on my door step the very next day! Mu husband plugged it in an we were on our way. You have been very easy to work with. I was amazed at the delivery time and I will use you in the future!

I am at my whits end, my ice maker don't make ice, first attempt to fix was when it quit dispensing crushed ice, I bought a micro something it went in the outside door part, that didn't do anything,second it quit dropping the ice into the ice bin, I let this go for a couple months through the holidays now it quit making ice all together.I read up on this page and I ordered a ice maker motor module,w10190935 installed it by your video and its been 72 hours and no ice, I poured a little water in the maker and it ran out quickly,what else I can't afford anymore high priced parts, meaning this all added up. I hope you can tell me whats wrong.

Hi Sybil, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the Emitter and Receiver Boards,PartSelect Number PS10064583.To test the board you need to open the freezer door and look at the status LED on the right hand side. Make sure the ice maker control is turned “ON”. The status LED should blink twice, pause, and then repeat,blink blink…. pause, blink blink… pause.Next with the freezer door open, hold down the flapper door on the left side to unblock the optics beam. With the optics unblocked, the LED should light up and stay lit with no blinking. If the status LED continues to blink twice , then you have defective optic boards and they will need to be replaced.If there is no LED light on, then the ice maker could be in “harvest” mode. Hold down the freezer light switch, the status LED should flash every second while in harvest mode. If the LED light still does not flash, then the optic control boards will need to be replaced. How long after replacing water inlet valve does it take to start making ice cubes?

No ice is being produced. It appears the optic boards are working properly, according to the tests described in other posts. No water is entering the ice maker. There is a clicking sound in the ice maker. I manually added water to the dispenser. It froze but did not disburses into the ice bin. If the dispenser is not working, does the water stop flowing to the dispenser water tray?

Hi Steve, Thank you for the question. If the boards are good and the ice maker is not dumping the ice into the ice bin, I suggest replacing the ice maker its self. You can also test the water valve assembly with a Multi Meter, but if filling the ice maker tray with water did not help it sounds like an ice maker issue. Hope this helps!

My icemaker has frozen water in the cube tray but will not dump the ice. I defrosted and dried out the cube tray and started it all over. The ice cube scooper seemed to work but then it was frozen in the ice again the next morning. I am not sure if it is the thermostat or a whole new assembly needed. Thank you for your assistance.

The ice maker has stopped working. The ice maker model is 626664, so not the 626663 that i am seeing on the web site. The ice maker looks the same but i have 1 wiring harness coming out of my ice maker with 4 pins that is rewired to go to 2 connectors one with 3 pin with all 3 pins used and a 2 pin with just on pin used and those plug into the 2 connectors in the refrigerator. Could i use the 636663 ice maker on your site and use my wiring harness that breaks the single 4 pin into the 2 connectors described above? Thanks much!!

Our ice maker is leaking and making icicles from the ice maker. What ice it is making is hollow. Sears told us $750 to fix it. Do you think just replacing the unit will solve the problem?

Usually when you are experiencing problems like that it is either your water inlet valve or your ice maker itself. If your water inlet valve is good, then you may have to replace your ice maker. I found the problem for water/icicles in my freezer section. Problem is isolated to the white fill cup that water enters into the ice maker. The fill cup was filled with frozen water. I filled the ice maker with water (manually) and turned the ice maker back on. It dispensed ice but when the water cycle came on water spilled into the freezer because the white fill cup was filled with frozen water. I removed the ice tray waiting for the fill cup to thaw to see if something may be plugged. How do i troubleshoot a clog that may be somewhere in the water distribution from fill cup to ice tray? Thank you

Hi Carl, Thank you for your question. Well there is only the fill cup and then your ice tray. So you would remove your fill cup and run it underneath hot water in your sink to melt the ice that is clogging your fill cup. If it is something in the fill tube that comes up from your water valve, you could try to use a hair dryer to melt any ice that is clogging your fill tube. I hope that helps. Keep geting black things in ice, was told there is a flapper in the back, i look but didn't see a flapper and did not pull unit off yet. They said the black things coming off the flapper. What should i do?

Hello Fred, thank you for writing. First check the ice maker and the ice bucket to make sure that the black particles aren't coming from there. If those two parts are clean then check the ice door kit that is up inside the dispenser section. That is part number W10823377. This part opens and closes the little chute that the ice comes through. That is what is meant by flapper. I hope this helps!

Our icemaker was not making ice. I ordered a new one from partselect. While waiting for it to arrive, i noticed that the freezer portion is too cold (-15 to 20 degrees f), and the refrigerator was at 55 degrees. I found that it was iced up at the bottom of the evaporator not allowing air to flow through the bottom of the freezer, and up into the refrigerator. (the slide gate is open at the top of the refrigerator allowing cold air to flow in). I defrosted the unit. It still is a little warm in the refrigerator ( about 43 degrees versus set point of 37) and the freezer is still -15 to 20 degrees. I opened up the back panel of the freezer, and check the connections for the defrost thermostat, fan and defrost heater. All seems normal. I do not believe the freezer is going through a defrost cycle, but am not sure if just replacing the defrost thermostat will fix the issue of it being continually cold in the freezer. (it may fix the issue of frost causing low air flow into the refrigerator section causing high temperature in the refrigerator, but will it keep the freezer from getting too cold? The compressor seems like it is always running when i listen to it. Maybe a bad temperature sensor for the freezer compartment telling the compressor to stay on continually? Maybe a circuit board issue? What do you think? I hesitate to install the icemaker since there may be other issues. Time to get rid of this ten year old unit?? thanks.I am a chemical engineer, but may be over my head!

Hi Rory, Thank you for the question,If you have a Multi Meter I suggest testing the Thermistor. The resistance should read at 77 degrees which is 2.7K ohms of resistance. You can also test the Bi-Metal Defrost Thermostat. Remove it from the refrigerator so you can control the temperature of the sensor. You can let the sensor warm up to room temperature. With the sensor warmed up to room temperature the sensor should read approximately 6.2K Ohms at 68°F. With the thermistor submerged is a glass full of ice water, the sensor should be very close to 32°F which should read approximately 16.3K Ohms. If the values that you are getting are far off from these readings, then the sensor is bad and should be replaced.You can also check for power to the control board and make sure it has the correct amount of volts. Hope this helps!
