Refrigerator light stopped working
The bulb wasn't the issue so I was hopeful the switch was. utube helped me some, but figuring my model was different than any on utube. Got the switch in and plugged it back in. Moment of truth. Didn't light. Ugggh! Out $50 for switch plus $20 for nut driver set.

Door switch was no longer making my light go on when door opened
I used the youtube you provided. It was pretty straight forward, but I had to make a trip to the hardware store for a bit (hex wrench) to remove the hex bolt head style screws. I was only expecting to need phillips or flathead. I managed to remove one with a set of pliers, and the brought that example to the store for size reference when buying the bit to fit my black and decker drill. The rest was easy.

Is there a way to check if the problem is the door switch before I order? We are quite sure it is not the bulb because we put in a new one.

Hello, Thanks for your question. The switch can be tested with a multi-meter. If it does not show continuity, replace it. I hope this helps.

The console at the top of my refrigerator cabinet that contains the light & etc. Does not attach with the four screws shown in your video. There seems to be just one center screw. Will loosening this one screw detach the console. I think I may need to replace the door switch. Thanks.

I have tested the bulb (works) and the socket (has continuity when switch is up; does not have continuity when switch is depressed). I am unsure how to test the switch other than be testing the continuity at the socket when manipulating the switch. Do i need to remove the plastic housing that holds the light socket and switch in order to test the continuity at the switch?

Previous answer did not address my question. I have tested continuity at the socket by removing the light bulb and testing the exposed metal terminals that are designed to make contact to the base of the light bulb. My question was about how to test continuity at the switch. I cannot tell that I have any continuity issues or bulb issues, so i am trying to figure out what could be the cause of my light not operating. Please address how to test continuity at the switch and what my next step should be if i have continuity at the light socket and at the switch.

When I close the refrigerator door the light does not go off. If I push in the door it slightly when closed, then connects to light switch and the light turns off. Not sure if my door is not closing properly or if the problem is the suction magnet around the door

Hello Lori, Thank you for the question. This sounds like the Door Gasket is not keeping the door closed with a tight seal and may need to be replaced. We hope this helps!

I accidentally bumped the light bulb and broke it. When I tried to take it out it made a loud pop noise and sparked. I've replaced the bulb with a new one but now the light won't work. Im wondering, did I blow a fuse or something? Any help would be great. Thank you!
