Front Loading door would not stay locked when starting a wash cycle
The door had become more difficult to close and then eventually stopped locking. The relay worked but the mechanical mechanism was not working properly.
I did not use a manual. Just read some tips for removing the latch assy.
Latch Assy:
1. Removed the four screws that hold the lid to the detergent.
2. Remove the door and the 2 screws holding the door frame (opposite door hinges).
3. Pull the front panel forward, then remove a screw from each side that holds the washer top lid in place (nut driver).
4 Remove two screws that hold the latch assy (nut driver).
5. Unplug the wiring harness.
6. Reassemble in opposite order.
Lock Hoop Door Assy:
1. Remove the four screws that hold the door together and separate into two pieces.
2. Follow instructions to remove lock hoop (instructions should come with new assy)
3. Reassemble.

Machine would not lock door
I followed the instructions listed by others. I removed the screws that held the door on, and the screws on opposite side of door opening. Then I pulled the face piece towards me to remove it. I removed the bolts on either side that was holding the top on. Here is the part where I had to use my brain. The top would not lift, so I had to remove the cover piece for where the detergent goes. Once I got the top off I just unplugged the wires and plugged them into the new part, unscrewed the old part and installed the new one. I then put my washing machine back together and did some laundry. :)

The door lock error -- cycle not completing
The door was not shutting easily and the plastic receptacle in the door latch assembly was difficult to move. I removed the front cover by removing the door and the hinge covers on the other side of the door hinges, pulled off the front cover, and unscrewed the vertical bolts that hold the top in the front corners. Also removed the soap dispenser (4) screws so the top would lift to allow access to the door latch assembly bolts. These two bolts were removed, the wire plugs undone and the latch assembly replaced. Installation in reverse order. The troubleshooting guide explained why the cycle would still not complete after the latch replacement: There was a little water in the washer and I had to run the spin cycle to drain it. Then it worked normally.

Machine would not wash
I took off the front cover, lifted the top, removed old door latch assembly and replaced wire for wire; put the washer back together. The part came in great time and it was a no-brainer. The appliance repair man sold my wife a bill of goods and basically lied to her. Word to the wise, "An appliance repairman who can come at your calling is one to be careful of, most good repairman are busy and it may take a day or two come over."

The door wouldn't stay shut after starting machine.
First I remove the the four screws surounding the front door. Then I took off the front panl cover. This give axcess to the nuts that needed to be removed to lift the top panl. Once the top panl was lifted up (not removed) then I was able to unscrew the door latch that was broken and replace it with the new one. I replaced one conected wire at a time so that I wouldn't get them mixed up. After that it was then easy to put back together! It works great now! Saved me from having to go out and buy new ones or to have a repair man come over. Cost me under eighty bucks! I was very happy! Thanks PartsSelect.com!

Upon loading my washer each time, i have to slam (sometimes several times) the washer door to begin the cycle load. It has never came or popped back open. When the cycle is completed, the door will open with a small drag (tug) to unlock to open.
For model number MAH6500AWQ
Hi Brian,
Thank you for your question. I would suggest taking a look at your door latch. It seems like that is the problem. You can test that part with a multi meter. Good luck with your repair.

Hello Kathy, thank you for inquiring. The error code and symptom are indicating that you will most likely need to replace the Door Latch Assembly part PS11739444 for your model. You may also want to consider the Lock Hoop Door Assembly part PS11739422 or the Door Lock Latch part PS11739531 for your model. We hope this helps.

The door will lock but the door lock light will blink and show a fl fault. When trying to start.
For model number MAH6500aww
Hello Henry, thank you for your question. The FL error code is indicating that there is no water detected entering the unit. We would recommend checking/testing your water valve, and water level pressure switch. I hope this helps!

Door is lock, i dont can open to change door latch assembly
For model number MAH5500
Hello and thank you for writing.
We suggest to try a hard reset:
Go to your breaker box and shut the breakers for your unit off, wait 5 minutes and then turn the breaker to on again. That should hopefully clear this problem.
We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime if you require further assistance.

Hello, question my washer will start up fine but then suddenly it locks the door and stops working. There is still water in the drum, but the washer has stopped mid-cycle and dock lock will not unlatch. I cannot change any settings because dock lock is still active and the L0 code appears.
For model number MAH5500BWW
Hello Michele, Thank you for your inquiry. We have researched the model number you have provided and the LO error code indicates that the washer is not detecting the correct amount of incoming water, the door will stay locked and the controls will not activate. First, check the fill hoses to make sure they kinked or damaged and that both the hot and cold water supply lines are completely turned on. It could also be an issue with the water inlet valve, part# PS11739418 for earlier versions of this water, and part# PS11739466 for the later versions with a serial/series number that starts with 83 and up, the dispenser valve, and the pump and motor assembly. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, we have videos available to assist you. We hope this helps and if you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!

Hi John, Thank you for the question. This sounds like an issue with the Door Latch Assembly. If the lock is defective it will not lock or stay locked. Hope this helps!

I have Maytag neptune washer, model number mah5500bww, my problem is: No starting, flashing start/pause button, after ten minutes is off. And now is ready for start when press start/pause button
For model number MAH5500BWW
Hi Nidhi, thank you for your question. There are a number of parts that you could check, however the first part that you should take a look at would be your door latch parts. You can test them with a multi meter. If that part is fine however then you might want to look into your motor or control board being the issue. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Speed indication error
For model number MAH7500AWW
Hi Ernesto,
Thank you for your question. You should check your door latch to make sure that it is working correctly. Another part that you may want to check is your motor belt. Make sure that it has not worn down and slipping on the pulleys. If those parts are fine it may be your actual motor that is the issue. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
