Some of the fold up/down tines in the lower basket were defective as well as the door handle was broken
The wheels and clip were just snapped in to replace old or missing ones. The door latch required the inside cover of the door assembly to be loosen enough to remove the old latch and replace the new latch.
approximately ten screws were involved.

Plastic door handle broke
It is an easy repair, but you need the right tools to remove the inside of the dishwasher door (a hex wrench set) and then to remove and replace two screws holding the plastic door handle in place (1/4 inch Allen wrench). Make sure the power is off even for this repair because it can't be done without coming close to electrical elements.

Dishwasher made a grinding sound - very loud. Did a poor job cleaning.
I took the lower pump assembly apart to find the problem. The biggest challenge was figuring out how to remove the cover. In the center, the assembly is held together with a round plastic nut about 1.5 inches in diameter - simply rotate it counter-clockwise to remove. I then removed the pump housing and found the impeller broken in two and the disk that was supposed to be attached to the top of the pump housing broken off. This was causing the noise and greatly reduced efficiency of the pump. I replaced the impeller and upper pump housing (bought the gasket too since it is hard to remove the old one) and put everything back together using the diagrams provided on the site. While many rate this repair as "easy" - it is only after you figure everything out! If you knew exactly what you were doing, the project could be done in 10 minutes. I had to study the diagram and it took me some time to disassemble, figure out what was wrong, read posts, order parts and reassemble. I also replaced the handle which had broken on one side which was simple. Part select is outstanding - I've used this site for my fridge, oven and now dishwasher and have avoided expensive service calls. If you are technically inclined and patient, you can repair your own appliances.

both items were broken
Inserting the front bowl tine was simple though I put it in backwards before realizing it was incorrect. In order to replace the handle, the dishwasher door had to be taken apart with a star-head drill bit. It wasn't difficult, but knowing what tools were necessary would have been helpful along with instructions.

Plastic handle had split (age and wear & tear)
As the screws took a special (non philips) head, I did need to buy a special one in the appropriate size (cell phone photos help!). Then I took off the 8 or so screws inside the front door, removed the two screws for the handle, replaced with new handle and screwed the front door back together. Not hard, would have been faster without the hardware store trip.

The dishrack guide rali stop had come off one of the guide rails, so the wheel in the guide rail would often roll right past the end of the rail, causing the rack to pitch down. this was rather frightening with the rack full of glasses and other breakables.
At first I snapped the plastic piece together and then tried to put it in the guide rail. That's where the sharp knife came in handy, to pry the piece apart again and start over. It was easy to see how the piece was supposed to go into the end of the rail and snap in place; I just didn't look carefully before I had to backtrack! I haven't yet tried to put in the other pieces we ordered.

replace broken door latch
This is the second time the door latch on my eight year old Jenn-Air dishwasher was replaced. I removed ithe door panel on the inside of the door by removing ten screws along the perimeter of the inside door panel. This is easy. The hard part is getting to the latch without taking the inside panel off the door. It helps to have another person hold the door as another person prys open the panel. There are two screws holding the latch. Once you unscrew the old latch and screw on the the new one, the hard part is over!

How do you replace the handel?
For model number JDB7910AWB
PartSelect logo
Hi Annie, Thank you for your inquiry. This is fairly easy repair. Here is a repair story from one of our customer's who has done the repair, "Turn off the power supply to the appliance. There is wiring you could mess up if something goes wrong. Open the door. Remove the four (4) torx head stainless steel screws on each side of the interior door panel. (total of 8). Then remove the two (2) torx head stainless steel screws near the top of the door on either side of the latch. Before you pry the interior door panel off, have handy a non-metallic weight, such as a brick or heavy book.. When you pull the interior door panel loose, the weight difference will cause the springs to pull the door up and closed. The brick will hold it open while you replace the cheap plastic handle. Do not try to fully removal the interior door panel as there are electrical wires attached. Just lien the interior door panel up onto the lower dish tray. You will need a 5/16" hex nut driver to remove the two (2) screws that hold the plastic handle on. Then, just reverse the whole process." I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
