Freezer quit freezing -Fan motor quit and the water froze like a frozen waterfall and didn't make enough ice cubes.
First I unplug the refrigerator, then I unscrewed the cardbord cover with a screwdriver, disconnected the wires, unscrewed the screws, removed fan bracket with the fan. Since my wire connector was different, I had to strip the wires to connect the fan, twist wires together with the connecting wires, use wire nuts wire nuts and wrapped in black tape. I then hooked together the connection making sure the fan was rotating in the right direction. I then placed the fan bracket back in its place, lined up the screwed holes and installed the screws back to the original tightness. I plugged the refrigerator up to see if the fan was working properly. It was so I unplugged it again to start the nwxt part replacement.
The next part I installed was a icemaker and water dispenser water inlet valve. I turned off the incoming water valve. I removed the two screws that held the old water valve in place. Unplugged the two connectors, removed the water lines and reinstalled the new water inlet valve hooking it up the way I unhooked it. Then I turned on incoming water line, checked for leaks. I put the cardboard panel back on and was done. The two parts were successfully installed in an hour. We now have a efficiently working refrigerator and a cold freezer and have the proper amount of ice cubes that are supposed to be made.

Refrigerator stopped cooling. Pulled it out of the alcove and plugged it back in. Compressor starfted but noticed condenser fan was not turning. Unplugged fridge and tried to turn the fan by hand - frozen.
Remove the back hardboard cover screws for access to the condenser fan. I opted to tip the fridge over on its side for even better access to the fan mounts and wire. Replaced the fan assy (reused the fan). Splice the wire and it's done.

The old motor wouldn't turn the fan.
After moving the refrigerator away from the wall I removed the cover on the lower back of the unit by removing the screws that held it in place. The condenser fan was not turning and there was heat build up in the area causing the refrigerator to not work properly creating elevated temperatures in both the freezer and regrigerator. Removal of three torx screws from the original motor was all it took to get the motor free. By turining it and working the fan blade around the mounting bracket I had the motor out in just a few minutes. Replacing the new motor was just as easy to reinstall. The fan was removed from the old motor and placed on the new for installation. The original motor was wired to accept a connector from the wiring harness of the refrigerator. I simply cut the connector off the wiring harness and stripped the insulation from the wires which easily allowed me to connet the wires of the motor and harness with two wire nuts. Three self tapping screws were used to hold the motor in place replacing the torx screws. Installed I plugged the unit in and immediately the fan started spinning as the unit came to life. Cleaned and replaced the cover over the back and slid back into its spot. Running as good as it did when it was new. Easy job to take care of.

Freezer and Fridge wouldnt cool
My husband replaced the condenser fan. It took awhile and a few choice words but he got it replaced. The fan seemed to work fine, but it still wasn't cooling. I noticed that when we had the fridge unplugged that water started draining out the dials at the top of the fridge under the freezer. And there was absolutely no water at all in the drip pan under the fridge. So I took the doors off and totally took the inside of the freezer apart. I discovered that the styrofoam on the floor of the freezer had become inudated with fluid and the under the foam the coils were all frozen solid with ice. Hence not allowing any drainage. I put a lamp in the freezer area and defrosted all the ice. In searching the internet i discovered that they no longer produce the foam so i went to home depot and got a piece of foam and aluminum foil and cut it to replace the ruined foam. I put the fridge all back together said a prayer and crossed my fingers and lo and behold it works perfectly now!!!!

Freezer too warm; noticed sides of refrigertor were warm
I saw on a partselect web site that these symptoms could be caused by a failed condensor fan motor. After removing the cardboard panel in back of the refrigerator I noticed the fan was not running when the rfigerator was. The fan was held in place by three brackets. I unscrewed the screws holding the fan motor to the brackets and also unscrewed one of the brackets to make room to pull the motor out. I cut the wires close to the motor. I removed the fan blade and secured it to the new motor. I had to reroute the old wires in order to have enough slack to use wire nuts to attach them to the leads on the new motor. I then re-attached the motor to the two brackets remaining in place and then re-attacehed the third bracket I had removed to get the motor out.. The most difficult part was working in a very confined space.

Refrig making a lot of noise
The motor kit had only two wires coming out of it. The existing one in the refrig had 6. I spliced the 2 red to one black on the new part and 2 white to the other black wire on the new part. The two green I attached to a screw. I left the 6 wire harness in place just cut off the plug piece that went into the old motor, and spliced all my wires.
Worked great!

refrigerator fan was not fast enough
My refrigerator condenser fan was burned out, and it was so weak you could stop it with your hands, and over time it will stop working.
I order a replacement and change it my self, all you got to do is take the cover from the back off and unscrew the fan + blade it was like 3 screws; I did had to cut the wires because the original fan had a connector the replacement did not had, but that was no biggie, it all works now it's been over a week so I call it a success.

Lately it wasn't cooling properly. I cleaned the coils which was very dirty and notice the fan wasn't turning. I turned the fan blade and it started turning. It has been working great for about 2 months, today it wasn't cooling properly again and the outsides was real warm. I checked the fan and it wasn't turning, i turned the fan lightly and it started spinning again, what part do i need to check or replace?

My refrigerator is not cooling properly. I can feel the cold air being distributed in the freezer compartment but there is no air coming through the vents in the refrigerator section. The condensor fan seems to be spinning underneath the fridge. Which part would you consider needing to be replaced?
For model number ET22PKXWN10
PartSelect logo
Hi Chris, Thank you for your inquiry. If your refrigerator is not cooling properly, there are a few parts you will need to check. You will need to check the defrost timer, the condenser fan motor kit, the capacitor, the evaporator fan motor kit, the cold control thermostat, the fresh food door gasket, the start relay cover and the light rocker switch. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Freezer is working fine but the refrigerator is too warm. Hovering around 55 degrees. The compressor fan seems to be working. Maybe not working as efficiently?
For model number ET22PKXWN10
PartSelect logo
Hi Chris, Thank you for the question. I suggest checking the Door gasket first. Make sure there are no gaps that could let the warm air leak through. In the evening when the room is dark you can put a flash light in the fridge and see if there is any light coming through once the door is closed. If you see light then the gasket will need to be replaced. If the gasket is fine you can check the Evaporator Fan Motor at the back of the freezer. This part pulls air into the evaporator coils and then disperses the air in a continuous motion throughout the refrigerator and freezer. If this is not working then the cold air is not flowing in to the fridge section as it should. It can get build up of dust and dirt over time and sometimes needs a cleaning so the fan it working properly. Since you are back there it sometimes help to vacuum off the coils! Hope this helps!

Our Maytag refrigerator was purchased new some years ago, the ice maker never hooked up, (our mistake) however now, some years later, there is a layer of ice every two weeks at the bottom of the refrigerator that must be hand removed...how can we repair this?
For model number MOD: MBF 2256KEB3
PartSelect logo
Hi Mary, Thank you for your inquiry. Based on what you described, the reason why there may be ice building up on the bottom of the refrigerator is the refrigerator is cycling too often, it's leaking water or there is ice buildup in the freezer. If it is cycling too often then there is probably a build-up of dust on the condenser coils and they will need to be cleaned or the temperature in the refrigerator is set too low. If it is set too low, you will need to adjust the temperature. If you have leaking water in your refrigerator you may have a blocked drain caused by food particles or other debris. Try to flush the drain with warm water through a funnel. The water tubing may also be clogged and you may have to clean it. If there is ice buildup in the freezer, it may be caused by leaving the freezer door open allowing the humidity inside to increase. Try not to leave the freezer door open any longer than it should be. There may also be an issue with the freezer door gasket and you will need to replace it. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

How do i trouble shoot a condensor fan?
For model number ARB2117AW
PartSelect logo
Hello Leo, thank you for your question. If your refrigerator isn't keeping as cool as it should and you feel like the fans are running more than they should you could have a freon problem or a condenser fan motor gone bad. A good way to tell if the condenser fan is not working is to check the area when the compressor is running. If the compressor is running but the fan is not, the fan would need to be replaced. I hope this helps!
